Saddle Creek Apartments in downtown Kalamazoo is built on a land grant of nearly 1000 acres in 1838 to the Rood Family. The original founders home, the 13 stall horse barn, silo, caretaker’s house and horse shoe shed exist today. The apartment residences are built around this living history.

All of the several hundred thousand tall pine trees planted around your viewing area were established by the former landmark home residents (Ransom Family) over sixty years ago. This area and adjoining property was previously a horse and pony farm. We decided to preserve the property heritage with the Saddle Creek horse theme/image.
